October 27th, 2008

In order to turn collateral into cash as quickly as possible, and if a default judgment is unavailable, the lender and its counsel should aggressively pursue summary judgment. But make sure there will be no factual disputes in connection with proving a default (a breach of the loan documents) or the amount of the debt. If lenders take debatable or extreme positions as to either of those issues, the motion could be defeated, resulting in delays and compounding financial losses.

record and put Liverpool three points clear at the top of the Barclays

Portsmouth: We tried to keep Harry

Portsmouth have insisted they did everything in their power to keep Harry
Redknapp as manager at Fratton Park and that there was no question of them
snatching a £5million compensation offer from Tottenham in order to ease an
alleged poor financial position at the south coast club.

Redknapp in as Spurs lose Ramos and £5m to Pompey

After employing four different foreign managers and two directors of football
in the past decade, Tottenham have gone back to basics by putting East
Londoner Harry Redknapp in charge after sacking Juande Ramos, his coaching
staff and the much criticised Damien Comolli, who had been expected to be
made the scapegoat for the worst start to a season in the club’s history.
Redknapp confirmed early this morning that he has accepted the job after
Spurs paid Portsmouth £5 million compensation for his services. He will be
at White Hart Lane this afternoon as they attempt to gain a first victory of
the campaign against Bolton Wanderers.

Arteta pulls the strings to make champions wilt

One of the attractions of sport is how an apparently lost cause can be retrieved against all expectation. Once Manchester United scored midway through the first half yesterday, going on to achieve effortless dominance before the half-time interval, they seemed certain to be heading for the usual victory at Goodison – an eighth in nine visits – and temporarily, at least, for the top three of the Premier League.

Richardson’s rocket hits home to ignite North-east tensions

The suffering in between has been too great to say it was worth the wait, but 28 years, six months and three weeks after they last did so, Sunderland beat Newcastle United at home yesterday. The victory sparked a pitch invasion on the final whistle, which turned ugly as rival fans clashed at the thinly-segregated away end, and which will get Sunderland into trouble with the authorities, but jubilation will not be denied Wearside. “If you think I’m going to sit here and criticise Sunderland supporters, you’re wrong,” Roy Keane said afterwards.

King crowns Hull’s rise to dizzying heights

It’s there in black and white and, on this evidence, it’s thoroughly deserved; only goal difference now separates Hull City from the Premier League summit. Today’s Chelsea v Liverpool game ensures that some daylight will be re-established but it will take more, much more, to shake Hull’s fans from the fantasy world which they now inhabit.

Outside the Box: Scudamore’s role in taking off Thaksin and bringing on Sheikh

While the football authorities might have been hoping that Thaksin Shinawatra – originally deemed a fit and proper person to own a Premier League club – would be found not guilty of corruption at his trial in Thailand, there is considerable relief that he had managed to dispose of Manchester City before the verdict was announced last Tuesday. Flimsy as they are, the “fitand proper person” tests employed by the Football Association and Premier League could hardly give carte blanche to someone sentenced to two years’ imprisonment in his own country, which is now seeking his extradition from Britain after he skipped bail to return here. Intriguingly, it emerges that City and Thaksin were both advised that the way the wind was blowing in Thailand, it would be impossible for him to continue as the club’s owner. Hence the hasty sale to the vastly richer Abu Dhabi United Group, which suited all parties. Richard Scudamore, the chief executive of the Premier League, says in defence of his organisation: “Don’t underestimate the role the football authorities played in that.” Better late than never.

McCarthy’s header leaves Boro stinging in the rain

It was a night of stereotypes. The rain and wind hurtled in from the Pennines, the football was hard and unyielding and all that was needed to complete the Lowry landscape was a few people in clogs. Oh, and to keep up with tradition, Middlesbrough conceded a goal in theclosing minutes.

Gray shades it for Wolves in colourful clash

Low on quality, packed with incident and drama. This absorbing game encapsulated the Championship, left fans sure they had got their money’s worth but had both managers scratching their heads. Wolves finally edged it thanks to a winning goal 20 minutes from the end by Michael Gray, but they knew they had been in a contest. “We didn’t look like a promotion team,” said their manager Mick McCarthy. “There was lots wrong with the game and lots right with it. But I’m a glass-half-full bloke and the points were important.”

October 17th, 2008

Many publishing companies have set rules on how much material they will allow to be quoted in other sources. Some of these ranges start at 100 words or less. However, there are truly no standards to go by, so be careful. You can not assume that keeping your copying fewer than 50 words will allow you to pass under the radar especially if the original piece is hovering around 125 words itself!
